Today 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders participated in the “National Flood Awareness Drill” in case our school experiences a flood.

Step 1: inform students and prepare them for the importance of this drill
Step 2: all students take off their shoes and socks, roll pants up if necessary, then place socks and shoes under desks so they won’t get wet.
Step 3: standing drill #1 for short term floods- Stand on a chair for full 60 seconds
Step 4: sitting drill # 2 for long term floods- Sit on a chair and place your feet on the desk until the water recedes
Step 5: students put shoes and socks back on and the teacher yells, “April showers bring…April Fools”
